What are soy wax candles?

We always recommend burning no more than 4 hours. Be sure to trim the wick to 1/4" before each lighting. Always allow the soy wax melt pool to reach the edges of the mason jars before extinguishing. This allows the soy candle to burn evenly and prevent "tunneling”, which can ruin your candle. Be sure never to leave a candle unattended or in reach of children, pets or a draft.

We like to work with soy wax for a few reasons. It's a 100% renewable resource and carbon neutral. It burns more cleanly and for a longer period of time than paraffin. Soy candles are better for the environment and your health: they are non-toxic and burn cleaner than paraffin wax. It produces as much as 90% less soot than paraffin which can blacken walls, ceilings, and furniture and contaminate the ventilation in your home. Did you know paraffin adds toxic carcinogens into the air that you breathe. That's the best part about soy wax candles; 90% less soot in the air around your house for a better and healthier lifestyle.

YES! Soy wax comes from the soy bean, meaning it is 100% Vegan! You're definitely doing your part for the environment with these mason jar candles!

We are happy to say, No! All of the ingredients we use are completely natural from our special soy wax to even our fragrances that are carefully chosen to keep carcinogens, mutagens, phthalates and all forms of toxins out of your home!

At High Tide Wicks, we use fragrance oils as opposed to essential oils. While we love essential oils for other uses, they tend to evaporate when they are burned because the flash point is so low. Fragrance oils are better for use in soy was candles, as the scent throw is stronger.

In general, our soy wax candles fill a medium-size room nicely. Larger rooms or rooms with high ceilings usually require an 8oz candle or 2 or more 4 oz. 4 oz candles are better for burning at a desk or in a small space such as a bathroom or office. Since we don’t use paraffin, our soy wax candles do not have quite the same scent throw. But we like that our candles are able to be enjoyed every day.
